ABATE of Colorado
A district is basically a group of members from the same area which is part of the SMRO (State Motorcycle Rights Organization) – ABATE of Colorado. They elect District Officers (District Representative, Assistant District Representative, District Secretary, District Treasurer, District Legislative Affairs Officer, and any other district position the district deems necessary) to run the district. They hold monthly meetings to discuss issues involving the SMRO, legislative issues, and concerns of the individual district, such as runs and events.
Members join districts for various reasons. Camaraderie being one of the main reasons. Why not hang out with other bikers who share the same interests as you? Monthly meetings are another good reason to join a district, where you’re updated on the latest SMRO information, legislative issues and district news. Most importantly, you can voice your opinion on all of the above and give input as to the direction of the organization. As a member of ABATE, you have the option of joining any of the active districts (even if you don’t live in the “designated” area of that district) or not joining a district and being in D-99 which doesn’t have any district officers or monthly meetings.
To start a new district or re-organize an inactive district, click on the “Claim This District” link on the district page of the website and fill out the information. We’ve had districts throughout the state so you should be able to find an inactive district near your location to re-organize. You should have a minimum number of interested people to do this (suggest 10, but at least enough to cover the district officer positions). The responsibilities are: hold monthly meetings; attend bi-monthly State Board Meetings; hold fund raising events for your district and the SMRO; and keep your members informed of all information disseminated to the membership.
Current Districts are in red.
